Training

Hunting is the sighthound's natural drive. Running and coursing should be fun for the dogs.

That is why animal protection is the top priority for us sighthound friends.

Racing training for greyhounds

Our training run is a double U run with banked curves.
As usual in coursing, the hare is pulled using pulleys. The hare is laid out, as is usual with this type of hare train, by motorbike. It is therefore a traditional drag hare and therefore extremely well suited for training young dogs.
The race distance is 435m.

Coursing training for greyhounds

The natural hunting instinct of the sighthound should be satisfied and the best possible utilization of the dogs should be achieved.

Originally, the greyhound's game consisted of rabbits, deer, wolves, coyotes, and gazelles. Hunting live game is prohibited by law in Germany, so coursing is a good alternative to racing. In contrast to greyhound racing, coursing simulates the natural behavior of game animals. It hits hook after hook and the chasing dog has to be awake and fit to be able to follow the "hare". This means that he not only has to be physically fast, but also to think quickly and calculate possible escape routes in order to catch the game. That means a positive effort. The senses are challenged and your dog is happy about this task. As a reward, the dog should be allowed to grab the prey at the end.

The "bunny" is a dummy. The movement counts as flight and is the trigger to pursue the prey.
